MICHAEL STENCEL

Michael Stencel was born between September 29, 1839 - 1844 in Poland, to Jacob and Margaret Stenzel.

According to family history, Michael married Augustine Stubinski. I was able to locate the marriage record of Michael Stenzel and Augustine Styk or Styb, but the handwriting is very bad. The Pommerania Genealogical Association has this index record:

Parish / Registry office Year Picture no. Number Groom Forename Groom Surname Bride Forename Bride Surname
Ugoszcz 1871 0277 13.II Michael Stenzel Augustina Styk

Looking at the actual record they were married in Studnitz on February 13, 1871 in Ugoszcz Parish, Poland. Michael is listed as age 27 (1844) and Augustine as age 18 (1853). According to family history Augustine was born April 10, 1852 in Poland. I found a birth record for Augustina Marianna in Studnitz on April 21, 1851 to Thomas Stuba and Contantia Crysan.

Later in December of 1871 I found the birth record for Marianna born on the 5th to Michael Stenzel and Augustine Styba in Oslawdamerow, Ugoszcz Parish.

Micheal and Augustine immigrated in about 1881 to United States and came to Walsh County, Dakota Territory.

Michael Stencel died February 13, 1913 and was buried in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Warsaw ND.

Augustine died May 10, 1935 in Walsh Co, ND and was buried in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Warsaw ND.

JACOB STENCIL FAMILY

Jacob Stencil was born 1825 in Prussian Poland and married Margaret (Stencil).

Jacob immigrated to the United States possibly about 1872 when his daughter Marcia Ann was married in Winona, Minnesota.

There is a Stanislaus Stencil who was in Winona in 1870 and was from Ugoszcz Parish, Poland.

Jacob appears on the 1880 Walsh County Census with his Daughter’s family under the household of Thomas Stanislowski.

Thomas Stanislauski may be related to Anton Stanislauski who were both living in Winona and Anton married Mary Stenzel in December of 1872 in Ugoszcz Parish, Poland. Mary was born January of 1842 in Poland, and immigrated about 1871 and she may be the daughter of Jacob or Stanislaus Stencil.

Stanislaus Stencil B. 1785 – 1802 and Josephine Studzinska B. 1790 – 1805 were from Ugoszcz Parish and may be the parents of Marianna Stenzel and Uncle of Michael who was also married in Ugoszcz Parish.

Jacob Stencel filed for naturalization on June 29, 1880, in Grand Forks, ND. In 1885 Jacob appears with his son Michael Stencel and his family on the Walsh County, North Dakota State Census.
